Handheld Xrf Analyzer

XRF is an acronym for X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. XRF is a non-destructive analytical technique used to determine the elemental composition of materials. Handheld XRF analyzers work by measuring the fluorescent (or secondary) X-rays emitted from a sample when excited by a primary X-ray source. Each of the elements present in a sample produces a set of characteristic fluorescent X-rays, or “unique fingerprints”. These “fingerprints” are distinct for each element, making handheld XRF analysis an excellent tool for quantitative and qualitative measurements.

NEW Sciaps X-550 Handheld XRF Analyzer (Sciaps X-550)
X-550 XRF Analyzer

The new standard in XRF
The SciAps X-550 sets a new performance standard for handheld XRF. Weighing 2.98 lbs. (1.3 kg) with the battery, it’s the lightest, fastest, most articulate XRF analyzer ever made. It delivers the small size, blazing speed and high precision of the SciAps X Series in a perfectly balanced device. It’s fast on all alloys, including aluminums. The X-550 uses the industry’s most powerful X-ray tube, operating up to 3x the power in the Beam 2 setting compared to the SciAps X-505 and other handheld XRF analyzers. The unique geometry and tube power optimize performance for low atomic number measurement applications including sulfidic corrosion (low Si), phosphorus and sulfur, and aluminum alloys, as well as for residuals analysis per API 751 and 5L specifications.

Applications

NDT-PMI

Delivers PMI for most alloys in 1 second with excellent precision.
Delivers PMI for most alloys in 1 second with excellent precision. Some NDT-PMI applications require longer tests, or multiple beam tests. Our Android apps-based platform provides pre-configured, dedicated apps to make quality testing by every operator as easy as using a smartphone – including apps for residuals (API 751), sulfidic corrosion (API 939), API 5L and other testing.

Optimized for key PMI applications like Residuals and Sulfidic Corrosion.
For many PMI applications, fast tests are sufficient for verification of alloy grade and geochemistry. More complicated applications require longer test times or multi-beam operations (one beam optimized for transition and heavy metals; the other for low atomic number elements Mg, Si, Al, P and S). Dedicated apps ensure testing follows correct procedures, such as recommended test times and X-ray beam settings. For example, the Residuals app defaults to 15-second test times due to the need to measure Ni, Cr and Cu at <0.03% each (sum <0.15%) and Nb and V at <0.02%. The Sulfidic Corrosion app is preconfigured to require two-beam tests in order to measure Si down to 0.03% in steels.

Designed for NDT, PMI users to access hard-to-reach test locations and welds.
Perfectly balanced, light weight, and articulate, you can test all day long without fatigue. The narrow footprint permits total access to virtually any test location and weld.

Scrap Processing

Great on high temp alloys and precious metals.
Like most XRFs, the X-550 provides fast, precise chemistry on the wide array of high temperature alloys, stainless, red metals and precious metals.  What’s different is the toughness of this metal-framed analyzer, that’s yet incredibly light weight (< 3 lbs.) and in perfect balance. Use it for sorting all day long without fatigue. The on-board cell phone camera (macro camera) allows for photo-documentation of materials tested, and the Bluetooth label printer provides instant hard copy labels with time/date stamp, grade ID and chemistry.

Featuring the Aluminum App: Sort all your Al alloys in 1-2 seconds.
If you’re a scrap processor, the one reason to buy the X-550 over the X-505 is the blazing speed and accuracy on aluminum alloys. The X-550 features our patent pending Aluminum App.  It sorts your aluminum alloys in 1-2 seconds, including those alloys that differ only by magnesium (Mg) content.  Grades that were either impossible to sort with other XRFs or take minutes of testing time, such as 3003/3004/3005, cast 356 and 357, and 2014/2024, are just a few examples. You can now sort many similar Al grades economically.

Contaminant Phosphorus & Sulfur
The high powered X-ray tube in the X-550 provides fast analysis of phosphorus (P) in copper and P and sulfur (S) in steels and stainless, allowing you to economically upgrade your copper and ferrous material based on low P and S levels.  The X-550 is 3x faster on P and S than is the X-505 or competing XRFs. Faster testing times make upgrading material for low P and S more economical.

Tramp Elements
Scrap processing has moved beyond just grade sorting. Many consumers now demand analysis on tramp or residual elements in common steel, nickel and copper alloys. The X-505 is optimized for low detection limits on common tramp elements, including Cr, Ni, Cu, V, Nb, Mo in steels, Pb and Bi in nickel alloys, and various undesired elements in copper alloys.

Mining
Now available for exploration and ore grade control applications. The benefit of the X-550 for geochemistry is fastest possible analysis on low atomic number elements in ore/soil samples including Mg, P, S, Al, Si, Ca and K. Contact us for details about our exploration apps for elemental analysis and pathfinder elements. SciAps XRF analyzers are utilized worldwide by many major exploration companies and mining laboratory services companies.  Also available with compact test stand for closed-beam operation.

Soil
The X-550 may be equipped with apps for elemental analysis of environmental soils. The analysis package includes the 8 RCRA metals and 11 of the 12 EPA priority pollutant metals (excepting beryllium – use our LIBS for that).  The X-505 complies with the long standing EPA Method 6200.

RoHS Applications
The X-550 is available with our RoHS and Halogen-Free apps, offering fast, precise analysis of the RoHS elements Pb, Cd, Br, total Cr and Hg, plus Cl for halogen-free requirements.  The high powered tube in the X-550 provides faster Cl analysis compared to the X-505.

General Analytical
Do you have a unique analytical applications? The X-505 can be equipped with our Empirical App, allowing the user to set up unique beam conditions, define specific elements of interest and create custom calibrations. For analytical requirements outside the realm of alloys, ores and polymers, the X-505 plus Empirical App offers complete flexibility for unique or proprietary analytical requirements.

NEW Sciaps X-200 Handheld XRF Analyzer (Sciaps X-200)
X-200 XRF Analyzer

The Workhorse. Our X-200 XRF analyzer is the perfect blend of high performance and attractive price.
The X-200 offers speed and performance comparable or superior to the top end analyzers from other brands. It uses a top-performing SDD combined with highly optimized X-ray tube and detector geometry. The X-200 is rapidly becoming the first choice for scrap processing and non-destructive testing due to speed and analytical performance combined with the lightweight, small form-factor design. It’s fast on every alloy family including aluminum alloys. For geochemical applications, it offers suites of elements for environmental, pathfinder, exploration, and mining. Other available apps include environmental soil, RoHS, Precious Metals, Car Catalysts, Coatings, and SciAps Empirical App for users who want to test other types of materials and generate their own calibration models. Analyzers may be factory calibrated with fundamental parameters, Compton Normalization (EPA Method 6200), or user defined empirical calibrations.

X-Ray Tube: 40 kV, Rh anode (alloy) or 50 kV Au anode (Geochem, Soil, RoHS, others).

Detector Rate: 20 mm2 standard SDD and DPP. 125k cps, > 90% live.

Get exactly what you need in a perfect blend of high performance and attractive price. A little beefier than SciAps sleeker models, X-200 still offers comparable or superior speed and precision to the top end analyzers from other brands. Combining a top-performing SDD with highly optimized X-ray tube and detector geometry, the X-200 is rapidly becoming the choice for scrap processing and non-destructive testing. It’s fast on every alloy family, including aluminum alloys.

Fast, precise tests with SciAps X-200

SciAps X-200 analyzes common alloys in 1-2 seconds or less. Alloys requiring longer
test times or two-beam light-element analysis are readily measured by industryspecific apps. Tap the Alloy App for ultra-fast verification of any metal. Even aluminum grades that confound other X-ray guns — 3003/3004/3005, cast 356 and 357, and 2014/2024 — are easy for the X-200. The analyzer uses pre-set testing times to measure low concentrations of Cr, Ni, and Cu, then calculates its sum. Operators won’t be adjusting test times in the field or generating unexceptional data due to insufficient testing times.

Connectivity and Android

Built on Google’s Android platform, SciAps X Series has the feel of a smartphone, with results easily viewed on a vibrant display and on-board macro camera for photo- documentation or 2D/3D bar code reading and storage. Use built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB to print, email, or connect to virtually any information management system for efficient test data and reporting.

For users who need to also measure carbon in steels, stainless and cast iron, SciAps manufacturers the world’s only handheld laser system (LIBS) capable of measuring carbon content low enough to separate L and H grade stainless. The Z also analyzes beryllium, boron and lithium in alloys. Packaged together with shared accessories in the OneBox, the X and Z provide optimal performance for virtually every alloy and element, and for less money than a comparable spark OES system.

USED Hitachi X-MET8000 Expert Geo Handheld XRF Analyzer (X-MET8000 Expert Geo)
The X-MET8000 Geo is a handheld XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analyzer designed for the on-site screening of environmental sediments and soils. The X-MET8000 Geo allows environmental testing to be carried out quickly and at high volumes, reducing the level of lab analysis required and the cost associated with it.

The X-MET8000 Geo uses novel BOOST technology, which means the system has detection limits that are low enough for the fast and accurate measurement of critical elements (e.g., US EPA Method 6200 RCRA and priority elements).

The system has integrated GPS that allows analysis results to be combined with geolocation data for the creation of site maps with contaminant locations. The geodata provided uses Trimble® receivers to provide accurate localized data.

Benefits

Provides Results in Seconds
Using the system’s standard soil calibration up to 40 different elements can be measured at the same time with minimal sample preparation, with the results delivered in a matter of seconds.

Make Measurements and Screenings On-Site
The X-MET’s portability means it can be used to measure samples across the site, so users don’t need to wait on lab results and can make decisions on the spot.

Little Training Required
The system can be used straight away and is operated by an intuitive point and shoot system.

Data Management
The data collected and associated reports can be downloaded to a USB or shared to a computer or network, in CSV format or as a tamper-proof PDF, via WiFi.
Data can be shared as it is collected using the ExTOPE Connect mobile app, with HITACHI’s cloud service facilitating the secure exporting of data and geodata, as well as images, in real-time. It is also possible to connect several systems to the same account for improved data collection.

Comfortable to Use
The X-MET8000 Geo’s ergonomic design, low weight of 1.5 kg and long battery life of 10-12 hours means it can be used for long, uninterrupted time periods.

Low Ownership Cost
The system’s rugged design means it can be used in all weather conditions and tough environments. The X-MET is protected against water splashes and dust (with IP54 compliance - equivalent to NEMA 3) and tested to military standards (MIL-STD-810G) for ruggedness.
